Jack's first swim meet

Having grown up with a pool at my Grammie's house, I don't remember a time when I wasn't swimming.  Since we don't have a pool of our own, Nick and I really wanted the boys to be exposed to swimming- for safety reasons, as well as fun!  Jack has been swimming since he was 2 years old, and Luke's been swimming since he was 9 months old. They've had weekly lessons with Mr. Scott, and we are amazed at how well he does and how much he loves swimming.  This summer, Jack joined the swim team at our swim school.  This is such a great experience for him. Adding to the fun is getting to be on the team with his buddy, Zak Del Vecchio!  The team has only had 3 practices, but they had their first meet this weekend, and it was such a fun day!  Jack and Zak both swam the 20 yard freestyle and backstroke heats for 5-6 year old boys.  We cheered on their team mates, and hung out with friends by the pool all day.  What fun!  We are so blessed to be able to work with Mr. Scott, Ms. Sophia, Jackie, and the rest of the crew at Deep Blue Swim School!

Jack after the 20 yard backstroke competition.  He said the sun was in his eyes, and he had a little trouble when he got close to the rope, but this was a great effort for his very first backstroke competition!

Zak and Jack cracking up!

Such goofballs!

Ahhh...good belly laughs1

Josh is such a cool dude!

All of the kids who competed for the first time got yellow ribbons for their efforts.  Great job, Jack!

Jack's Art Show

Jack's school has an annual art show and ice cream social, and we've been looking forward to it for some time.  Jack is a wonderful artist.  He's so creative, and pays such close attention to details.  For as much as I could be found with my nose in a book when I was his age, he can be found at the table drawing pictures.  He proudly showed off some of his school art, which they collected throughout the year!
